When submitting specifications, it is important to let your designer know exactly what you wish to have done. This is so you can be provided with the most accurate price estimate and you and the designer will have a clear goal for the site. If a designer cannot provide you with a certain service that you are looking for, this is also the time when you should be advised.

With Websites, it is sometimes difficult to have a clear picture right from the beginning, especially if you are unfamiliar with what can be done or you are not sure of what you are looking for with regard to your site's purpose. Please take a look at the list of services and things to consider before you begin, if you have not done so already.

     

This is only an additional guide to help you determine what you are looking for in a Website.
     

If you choose to contact me regarding Web design, here are some of the questions that I will need to be answered in order to plan and build your Website. I will also use this information to determine whether or not you might need another type of designer.
     
  1. Is this a small business or personal Website?
     
  2. What would you like your domain name to be?
     
  3. Do you need assistance with setting up your Web host or any other service provider?
     
  4. If you already have a domain name, what is it and who is your Web host?
     
  5. How many pages will the site have and what will the purpose of each page be?
    (i.e., home page, about us, contact us, products, photo gallery, etc.)
    You do not have to include the purpose if the answer is obvious, although it
    would be helpful to outline what features you would like to have on each page.
     
  6. What type of theme, if any, will you want?
  • Font preference, color scheme, graphics, etc.

  1. What will be your target audience?

  • Kids, teens, adults, senior citizens?

  1. Will text and some images be provided?
     
  2. Will you need a photo gallery (for what purpose: friends/family, portfolio, etc.)?
     
  3. Will you need forums/guest book?
     
  4. Will you need to have surveys or polls so that visitors can vote?
     
  5. Will you be using forms to collect information from visitors?
     
  6. Will you want your site to have Flash/SwishMax movies?
     
  7. Will you need a sitemap?
     
  8. Will a database be needed?
     
  9. Do you need a logo designed?
     
  10. Will you want to have sound [could be background music or an effect]?
     
  11. Are you interested in using PayPal eCommerce or any other shopping cart?
     
  12. What kind of navigation are you looking for [graphics, text, or both]?
     
  13. How will you advertise (search engines, link exchange, banner ads, etc.)?
     
  14. Would you be interested in participating with an Affiliate Network?
     
  15. If the site will have products, how would you like them to be displayed?
     
  16. How often will you need to have your site updated or maintained?
     
  17. What will you need to be updated (products, photos, etc.)?
     
  18. Do you have any preference of software to be used (Dreamweaver, MS FrontPage, etc.)?
